At Mother Vine, we love discovering the people behind the wines we pour. Young Gun of the Month is our way of shining a light on the young, emerging winemakers and small producers who are doing things their own way, taking risks, building their own labels and putting their stamp on the Australian wine industry.

Each month, we feature a young or up-and-coming winemaker whose wines we believe deserve a little more attention. It’s about getting to know the person behind the bottle - their story, their connection to the region and, most importantly, the wines they’re creating.

This Month: Jack Tomich

Born and raised in the Adelaide Hills, Jack Tomich is part of a new generation of winemakers putting their own energy into one of South Australia’s great wine regions.

Jack is currently working across three labels - Cloudbreak, Devil Made, and the family’s established Tomich Wines, where he has recently taken the reins from his dad.

With a strong connection to the Adelaide Hills, Jack’s wines showcase what makes the region so special. His Pinot Noir and Chardonnay offer classic expressions of the Hills, while his Pinot Gris and other whites bring a fresh, vibrant and incredibly drinkable style to the table.

There’s a sense of independence and creativity in what Jack is doing, while still respecting the family winemaking tradition that came before him.

For us, that’s exactly what Young Gun of the Month is about - discovering the people pushing local wine forward and giving you the chance to enjoy their wines along the way.
